The Minister Hon. Wimal Weerawansa and Minister Hon. Douglas Devananda declared opening of Gurunagar Housing scheme which is newly renovated by the State Engineering Corporation.

The Housing scheme was heavily damaged and destroyed some parts of it by the LTTE during the early stage of War which perished the country nearly three decades.

The Housing scheme was renovated at a cost of Rs.110Mn and it was spand in 1.53 acres.it consists of No of 8 block and each have 5 storied with 20 housing units in each.the total housing units which were renovated is 160. In line with the renovations; community centers, church, play ground ,water tank, pre school also been renovated.

Minister Weerawansa said that’ over 160 families have benefited from this housing scheme.their houses were destroyed by the LTTE 29 years ago. If we described as traitors fro rebuilding this country and providing housing for the tamils, we are ready to accept that description. People would decide whether providing houses for them amount to treachery or not’.
